The annual 365 Men of the Year Awards, hosted by the Gauteng Department of Social Development aims to address the scourge of GBV.

Jabulane Thabethe and Richard Firth were among the honorees.

Thabethe has been raising funds by doing long walks since 2016.

To date he’s raised more than R2-million and bought over 27,000 school shoes.

Firth runs a call centre where professional case workers respond to calls and help victims of GBV.

He also runs TEARS Foundation, which campaigns against domestic violence, and sexual abuse targeting women and children.

They spoke with eNCA's Sindy Mabe.
