CAPE TOWN - A minibus taxi booking app has public transport shifting gears in Cape Town.

Loop is an app that enables commuters to book a taxi as a shuttle for once-off trips.

Western Cape officials believe it could offer job opportunities while curbing illegal taxi operations.

Available on Whatsapp, Loop’s creators say their service cuts through the noise of data-hungry and overly complicated apps.

After the roll-out in Cape Town, the service gears up for its Johannesburg launch next year.
