JOHANNESBURG - There is no 'BRICS currency' in the works.

This is according to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO).

The department has dismissed claims that member countries are planning a shared currency.

Spokesperson, Chrispin Phiri says the move would not make sense given the vastly different markets and economic structures of BRICS nations.
