CPI increases to 5.4% in September

JOHANNESBURG - Inflation has increased to 5.4 percent in September, up from 4.8 percent in August.

Food, housing and fuel costs drove the higher inflation.

This could prompt the SA Reserve Bank to rethink rate hikes next month.

The Reserve Bank's inflation target band is between 3 and 6 percent, with the midpoint at 4.5 being the goal.
