CAPE TOWN - Another cold front has slammed into the Western Cape.
Heavy rains and flooding have destroyed homes and infrastructure and thousands have been displaced.
Endangered African penguins have also been affected.
Nearly 200 chicks were rescued after their nests were flooded.
Sadly, at least 50 carcasses have also been found and there are fears it could get worse.
SANCCOB’s head of conservation, Nicky Stander, says the organisation has rescued the highest amount of displaced African penguins in just a week as a result of the heavy rains.
It will also monitor the Eastern Cape colonies should extreme weather conditions continue.
