CAPE TOWN - Restaurants and food outlets are being warned to watch out for fake food inspectors.
This after scammers approached restaurants in the City of Cape Town, attempting to score free meals.
The city says the fake inspectors approached establishments in Kalk Bay, Muizenberg and Bergvliet, threatening to close them down if requested papers are not produced.
Mayoral Committee Member Patricia van der Ross says the scammers were not successful because the businesses were aware of their region’s health inspectors.
