JOHANNESBURG - Corruption charges have been withdrawn against the ANC’s Zizi Kodwa.
Kodwa is well known as a former spokesperson for the ANC and a former sport, arts and culture minister.
The state capture commission noted that in 2015 and 2016, EOH and his co-accused, the former EOH executive, Jehan Mackay, made R1.6 million in cash payments for Kodwa.
The Zondo commission recommended that he be investigated for the alleged debts as Mackay was accused of bribing politicians and paying donations to the ANC to win lucrative government contracts.
According to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions the likelihood of a successful prosecution has diminished due to recent circumstances warranting the withdrawal of charges.
But it has since been announced by the National Prosecuting Authority that prosecutions head Shamila Batohi will review that decision.
