SACP and family call for inquest into Hani's murder

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Communist Party and the Hani family are calling for an inquest into the 1993 assassination of their former secretary General.

The party's expressed dissatisfaction with how the government handled the deportation of Janusz Walus. The convicted killer was deported to Poland on Friday, after serving nearly 30 years in prison.

The SACP says while the government engaged Hani's widow Limpho on the assasin's release, the deportation just rubs salt into the famiy's wounds.

That's because Walus and his late co-perpetrator Clive Derby-Lewis failed to disclose the truth surrounding Hani's murder.

For more on this, SACP’s General Secretary Solly Mapaila had a sit-down with eNCA's Heidi Giokos.
