WESTERN CAPE - Mop-up operations are underway in the Swartland Municipality in the Western Cape.

Two retention dams above the Riverlands Dam collapsed causing extensive flooding in the area.

Hundreds left homeless are being housed in churches and community halls.

There are now fears of the third retention dam also failing.
