PRETORIA - Oscar Pistorius will be released on parole on Friday.
It has been eleven years since he murdered his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day.
In March 2023 the blade runner was denied parole after a judge ruled he had not served the minimum time to qualify.
Pistorius has spent about eight and a half years in jail and his sentence is expected to expire in 2029.
Meanwhile, Women for Change organisation says the release of Oscar Pistorius on parole sends the wrong message to potential offenders.
The NGO says Pistorius's release from prison sends a concerning message about accountability and justice in our country.
The organisation's Bulelwa Adonis says the family of the late Reeva Steenkamp has been robbed of the opportunity to create memories with her.
