WATCH | NCOP Sitting | 'Only women can take this country forward' - Ramathuba

CAPE TOWN - Limpopo's first female Premier, Phopi Ramathuba, says only women can take South Africa forward.

It's been a significant weekend, with women taking up positions of power in both the National Assembly and the NCOP.

The ANC's Thoko Didiza has been elected Speaker of Parliament and its outgoing Mpumalanga Premier, Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane has been elected unopposed as Chairperson of the NCOP  on Saturday.

Ramathuba also says it’s time for decisive leadership to end socio-economic challenges in the province.

Ramathuba is the first female premier in Limpopo.

She says her main priority is to end poverty in the province.
