JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced strict health inspections
to prevent the misuse of chemical terbufos and improve food-safety controls.
"All registered manufacturers of terbufos will be inspected"
At the same time, Ramaphosa also ordered the immediate closure of spaza shops implicated in the deaths of children.
At least 25 children have died and dozens of others hospitalised due to chemical poisoning from food.
Ramaphosa addressed the nation from the Union Buildings on Friday in response to the recent spate of deaths and illnesses of children blamed on contaminated food.
