WATCH | Blackouts...a 'clucking' crisis

 

JOHANNESBURG - Food security in the country is being threatened by rolling blackouts.

Already, 10 million 1-day-old chicks have been culled over the past six weeks.

This is as abattoirs battle to keep up with their slaughter schedules.

The ripple effect not only affects farmers but restaurants and fast-food outlets.

It will also soon affect your pocket as poultry prices will rise.
