JOHANNESBURG - 2024 is going to be a big year for democracy in South Africa.

A new parliament, President and provincial legislatures will be chosen.

And for the first time in our history, independent candidates have thrown their names into the hat.

With the IEC warning that the choices will be so vast the ballot papers will be long and possibly confusing.

We look at the political year that was in 2023 and get some predictions for 2024.
