UWC flex SA women's football strength
JOHANNESBURG - South African women's football continues to grow.
There may not be a professional domestic structure, but that is not stopping the women's game from thriving.
The University of Western Cape Football Club showed this weekend that the high standard set by Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies can be met.
UWC won the Cosafa Qualifiers of the CAF Women's Champions League in Malawi, beating Gaborone United Ladies.
The victory saw UWC make history by becoming the first university football club to qualify for the Champions League, and there they will join reigning champions Sundowns Ladies.
UWC Football's head coach Thinasonke Mbuli has more.
