USAID cuts could lead to 2000 new infections daily

GENEVA - UNAIDS is warning USAID funding cuts could lead to 2000 new HIV infections daily. It's latest situation report found many critical services have ground to a halt.

This is particularly true in countries heavily reliant on US funding. The countries include Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania and Ghana.

In South Africa facilities for gay men remain closed.

Christine Stegling of UNAIDS says people should stay hopeful that the US government would restore some of the financing.
