US student found dead after going missing hiking up Table Mountain

CAPE TOWN - SanParks has confirmed that a young American hiker has been found dead on Table Mountain.

Brook Cheuvront (20) has been named in international media as a student from North Carolina who was in Cape Town doing an internship at an NGO.

She went hiking alone on Saturday at around midday.

Her friends started making enquiries after her tracking app stopped updating and she did not return.

Her body was found on Sunday on the slopes of the mountain.
