JOHANNESBURG - US President Joe Biden had a family meeting on Wednesday night to explain his dropping out of the election race.

He never mentioned his declining poll numbers or the disastrous debate.

Instead, he said it was time to pass the torch and endorsed Kamala Harris for the top job.

In an unprecedented move, the Democrats have agreed to hold a virtual role call to nominate a candidate ahead of its National Convention in August.
