Social Development Dept returns half a billion rand to Treasury

JOHANNESBURG - Despite non-profit organisations not receiving critical funding and other welfare challenges, the Gauteng Social Development returned over half a billion rand to the Treasury.

The department returned 5-hundred-and-54-million rand and irregularly spent R6.5 million in the 2023/24 financial year.

It failed to have full control of procurement and other expenditures.
