JOHANNESBURG - Over 40% of water lost in South Africa due to leakages is a result of decaying infrastructure.
The Water and Sanitation Ministry announced this during a briefing on Monday.
It says municipalities are failing to maintain their pipes and pumping stations, which poses a threat to water conservation.
Municipalities also owe water boards more than R21b.
