Two trains collided near Richard's Bay
DURBAN - Recovery efforts are underway after two Transnet trains collided and derailed in Northern Kwazulu Natal Monday morning.
One Transnet Freight Rail train rear-ended the other Transnet freight train that was stationary in eLubana.
Derailments are not uncommon in South Africa with industry bodies saying the latest incident underscores the risks of outdated manual systems.
Professor Jan Havenga from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Stellenbosch University discussed this with eNCA.
