JOHANNESBURG - NGOs in the health sector are concerned about continued reports showing government's distribution of condoms to public facilities is on the decline.
In February, the Treatment Action campaign raised the alarm in the Gauteng province, blaming government for an increase in sexually transmitted diseases in the province.
Now, data published in the Health System Trust’s District Health Barometer shows that in the past five years, there has been a massive decrease in condom distribution across the country.
The report shows that in 2022, government distributed 45 percent fewer male condoms than in 1998.
Sibongile Tshabalala, the National Chairperson of the Treatment Action Campaign, has more on this.
