SA’s debt crisis | Treasury considers draw-down from contingency fund

JOHANNESBURG - Treasury is considering withdrawing half its contingency reserves from the central bank.

It plans to use the money to reduce the government’s debt and fund public-sector salaries.

The state and the bank are close to an agreement on the withdrawal from the R500--billion fund.
