Rebuilding trust in SOEs through transparency

JOHANNESBURG - While coalition talks continue, the urgent need for transparency and accountability in reforming South Africa's state-owned enterprises has come under the spotlight.

The Zondo Commission highlighted that the rampant spread of corruption was fueled by the lack of accountability with SOE audit reports revealing numerous irregularities in the awarding of tenders. 

Key to rebuilding trust are consequence management and stringent oversight through public-private partnerships.
