JOHANNESBURG - The Johannesburg Art Gallery has been affected by severe water damage, mould, and structural issues threatening its iconic collection, including works by Irma Stern.
The Friends of JAG and the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation are calling on city authorities to act immediately.
They're warning that delays could cause irreversible damage.
Mayor Dada Morero says funding for repairs will only be available in 2025, but critics argue the artworks cannot survive another year of neglect.
Legal action may be on the horizon to protect this cultural treasure.
Johannesburg Heritage Foundation Chair, David Fleminger, has more on this.
