CAPE TOWN - Organ donations from one person can save up to seven lives.
The problem is aligning willing donors with needy recipients.
There is a very short window while the organs are viable.
To extend this window, a group of Stellenbosch medical students are proposing 'Life Pods' at hospitals.
These will be ICUs dedicated to posthumous organ transplants.
A space has been identified at the Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town for the pilot pod.
Jonty Wright and Sachen Naidu from Save 7 join us for more.
