NHI Bill | Tobacco control bill set to reduce burden of non-communicable diseases

JOHANNESBURG - With the National Health Insurance Bill now signed into law, the focus has shifted to effective implementation strategies. 

Health, community and anti-smoking organisations have united under the banner of 'Protect our Next' to emphasise the urgent need to pass the Tobacco Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill.

This legislation is crucial for addressing the costly burden of non-communicable diseases in South Africa.

Experts say the Tobacco Control Bill, pending for over six years, is vital for the successful implementation of the NHI bill.
