Nersa approves national free basic electricity rate

JOHHANESBURG - The Energy Regulator has approved a National Free Basic Electricity rate for municipalities.

Known as the NFBE, it's the rate at which municipalities compensate Eskom for providing free basic electricity.
It's been set at 194.40 cents per-killowatt-hour.

Nersa says this should be enough to provide basic electricity services to qualifying households.
