Millions don't have access to clean, piped water 2/5

PRETORIA - This National Water Week, the Department of Water and Sanitation, the Water Research Commission, and Unisa are holding an imbizo focused on forging collective solutions towards the country's water crisis.
Millions of South Africans have no access to this critical resource, and those who do face regular cut-offs.
Water management expert, Professor Anja du Plessis says institutions must come up with practical solutions that will also favour the communities affected.
"Expert and universities need to get on the ground. They have to look at the realities that communities are experiencing, and not try to develop high tech that is only being used within the controlled environment," she said.
