Mthatha communities march against growing levels of extortion 

MTHATHA - Residents of Mthatha are set to march in protest against the rise in extortion crimes.

The march follows a visit by National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola to the Eastern Cape town.

He gave an update on how police are trying to tackle extortion gangs that are preying on communities and businesses.

Speaking to the National Assembly last week, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu said Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape and Eastern Cape carry 73 percent of crime levels in South Africa.
