JOHANNEBSURG - More than 21-thousand 200 families have benefited from payouts totalling over 2 billion rand. It's the largest payout ever made by a compensation organisation in the mining sector.
These payouts have been made by the Tshiamiso Trust, to ex-gold mineworkers and their families. And only those who meet the criteria for silicosis and work-related tuberculosis, receive compensation.
Dr. Munyadziwa Kwinda, CEO of the Tshiamiso Trust spoke to eNCA about this groundbreaking achievement.
