Mangaung Correctional Centre | POPCRU concerned about transfer delays
JOHANNESBURG - The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union is urging the Correctional Services Department to fast-track the transfer of the Mangaung Correctional Centre back to the department.
The contract with G4S has been extended by three months to allow the court to decide if the department had fairly ended the 25-year-contract with the security company.
The contract was terminated last year following Thabo Bester's escape from the facility.
Several G4S staff members were implicated in the escape.
