JOHANNESBURG - July is one of the most significant months on the South African calendar.
It's when one of the founding fathers of the country's democracy, Nelson Mandela is celebrated. Several initiatives are undertaken to honour Tata Madiba on his birthday, the 18th of July.

Among them is a walk and run in Johannesburg on the 20th of July. This year, the theme is 'It's still in our hands to combat poverty and inequity'. 10-thousand participants are expected to take part in the 5km walk as well as the 10 and 21 kilometre runs.
