Human trafficking | Civil society steps up when govt doesn't

JOHANNESBURG - Various reports point to South Africa as a source, transit point and destination for trafficking in persons.

Without official stats, the numbers vary between global bodies, NGOs and even foreign governments.

A damning report from the US State Department said government is not doing enough.

NGOs however are working hard to fight the scourge.

One of them is Brave To Love whose founder, Emma Van Der Walt, has also written a book telling the harrowing stories of survivors, called 'She is Safe'.
