JOHANNESBURG - Government has promised to revitalise railways in South Africa and make it more attractive for private operators to get involved.

Due to the deterioration of Transnet’s performance, miners and other industries have been forced to transport their goods via truck even though it’s more expensive and roads have suffered.

The African Rail Industry Association or ARIA CEO, Mesela Nhlapo joined eNCA to give the private sector's perspective on the situation.

ARIA represents manufacturers, rail operators, and associated industries.
