GBV Epidemic | SA women want to be safe in public spaces

South African women face the grim reality of a nation grappling with world-record-breaking gender-based violence and femicide.

The recent release on parole of Oscar Pistorius has resulted in a growing concern about the prevailing public sentiment.

In response to this, non-profit organisation, 'hashtag funk it I'm walking' (#FunkitimWalking) will be hosting a Soweto Night Out at the Before You Kill Us night walking tour.

This event aims to humanise the victims of GBV through artworks and audio experiences.

The founder of Funk It Im Walking, Nomsa Mazwai says they want to make public spaces safer to walk in at night.
