JOHANNESBURG - Gender-based violence is endemic in South Africa and the collapse of government’s multi-million-rand GBV command centre is straining NGOs.
According to statistics provided by the South African Police Service, 42,780 women were raped between 2022/2023, compared to 41,739 in 2021/2022.
