DURBAN - News headlines in recent weeks have brought home the grim reality that gender-based violence does not take a break in South Africa.
It was reported earlier this week that more than 100 women have been killed in KwaZulu Natal since October last year.
Among them, 21 year old Ayabonga Mjilo was killed on Christmas eve, allegedly by an ex-work colleague.
Her body was found in his backyard.
Crime stats for the three months to September last year showed that the murder or women had risen by more than 8.5%.
The Minister of Women, Youth and People Living with Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga discussed this with eNCA.
