JOHANNESBURG - There are growing calls to intensify the fight against gender-based violence.

WATCH: Fighting gendered violence in the workplace

One gender activist, Dr Nthabiseng Moleko says interventions like the backlog of DNA samples have failed the victims.

The tests could assist in clearing femicide and sexual assault cases.
