Food inflation | Weak rand, blackouts drive up food prices

JOHANNESBURG - We don't have to tell you that food prices have been increasing sharply recently.

In fact, the Bureau for Food and Agriculture Policy says there have been increases of up to 23 percent.

It says this is far beyond increases in production costs and blames it on the weaker rand and power cuts.
