JOHANNESBURG - The recent elections saw a flurry of fake news and misinformation on social media.

We saw social media bot posts, AI-generated images and even videos.

Now, the CSIR is looking at how to identify and curb the spread of false information.

It hosted a multi-party information-sharing webinar to discuss the issue.
