LUSAKA, ZAMBIA - For every 100 children in Africa, 18 are out of school – twice the rate of the rest of the world. Today, Unesco released a report titled, 'Learning Counts'.
It reviews and provides analysis and recommendations from across Africa, including South Africa.
Some of it's concerns include relevant textbooks, curriculum inconsistencies, and support for teachers.
Report Director, Manos Antoninis, believes teachers are being set up to fail.
