Education in Crisis | 80% of Grade 3 pupils cannot read for meaning

JOHANNESBURG - The 2030 Reading Panel has revealed 80 percent of Grade 3 pupils in South Africa cannot read for meaning in any language.

The panel convened in Johannesburg this week to review its work and objectives. It's aiming for all children in South Africa to read for meaning in both their home language and English by age 10 by 2030.
