DRC Conflict | Discussion | SA soldiers accused of fighting along with Hutus

GOMA - Are South African troops fighting alongside Hutu militia in the DRC who were involved in a genocide?

This is one of the claims as South African soldiers have been caught up in a fight between rebels from the M23 who are backed by Rwanda against the DRC armed forces.

Among those armed forced – it has long been claimed by Rwanda – there are Hutus who were involved in the killing of Tutsis in the Rwandan genocide in the 1990s.

In April 1994 hardline Hutu militias attacked Tutsis and moderate Hutus, killing up to a million people over 100 days in what is now known as the Rwandan genocide.

A former diplomat and risk and security expert, Dr Kingsley Makhubela and Christian Rumu from Amnesty International discussed this with eNCA.
