JOHANNESBURG - The Dubai climate talks have concluded with a historic deal. World leaders at this year's United Nations COP-28 summit have agreed to transition away from fossil fuel.

Fossil fuel is known as the culprit that drives climate change.

However, to some analysts, there are still loopholes in this agreement as the was no outright call to phase out oil, gas and coal.

Can other countries afford to completely move away form the use of fossil fuel?

Professor Laura Pereira from Wits Global Change Institute spoke to the eNCA.
