JOHANNESBURG - Projections from the World Health Organization's tobacco trends report indicate there are still 1.25 billion adult tobacco users worldwide.
Global tobacco use is expected to continue to decline. In 2000, one in every three adults worldwide smoked, but now only one in five does.

According to the research, 150 countries have successfully reduced their tobacco consumption.
Health Promotion Manager at the Health Department, Lorato Mahura says that WHO is encouraging countries to look at measures to reduce the demand.
