JOHANNESBURG - The ANC is standing by Human Settlements Minister Thembi Simelane amid growing calls for her to step aside.
Simelane is accused of receiving a R500,000 loan from a facility linked to unlawful VBS Mutual Bank.
She's also under scrutiny for allegedly living beyond her means as Polokwane mayor.
However, Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says Simelane has not been formally charged or found guilty.
He says the ANC’s step-aside rule only applies to members facing criminal charges.
Lawson Naidoo from Casac spoke to eNCA.
