JOHANNESBURG - The 12 pupils accused of racism at Pretoria High School for Girls have been found not guilty. 

A three-person panel of the School Governing Body, chaired by an advocate, has ruled on the matter.  

The learners were accused of starting a 'whites-only' WhatsApp group and sharing racist messages.

The school principal has also been suspended. 

Eight of the 12 pupils are prefects and they will now be reinstated to their leadership positions. 

The school's  SGB says it believes the process was conducted with fairness and transparency.
