JOHANNESBURG - It's been estimated that four provinces in South Africa will continue to face water shortages.
According to News 24 which has seen Rand Water's five-year corporate business plan, for the period July 2023 to June 2028, it paints a dire picture of what's to come for 14-million South Africans. The water utility's infrastructure is aging and the increase in demand is drying out the reservoirs.

Officials are now warning South Africans that between now and late 2027, when Phase 2 of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project will be completed, they should expect water supply challenges worse than what most are already going through.
What does this mean for South Africans, should we expect water shedding schedules soon in Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga, and parts of the Free State?
