Discussion | SARS exceeds its targets

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Revenue Service has exceeded its revenue-collection targets, despite tough economic conditions for taxpayers.

SARS collected R10-billion more than what was expected in the budget speech earlier this year, and this is attributed to among others, increased collections from companies.

Over R100-billion in refund fraud was detected before payments were made.

Professor Keith Engel, CEO at the South African Institute of Taxation, has more on this.
